Well, it’s that time of the year again. As we head through the holiday season I start to look back at the year and take stock of what I’ve accomplished.

Me, having coffee with my friends Emmy and Telly.

One of the most exciting things for me was winning the Boston/New England region Emmy award for Best Historical Short Form back in June! I, along with my collaborators, won the award for work we had done on the YouTube show “Showman’s Shorts” for the Barnum Museum.

Winning the Emmy was a great honor, and it was nice to know our colleagues in the industry felt we had done exceptional work.

This episode of Curious People Wanted won the People's Choice Telly.

In addition to the Emmy I and my collaborators won a few Telly awards as well, most notably a Silver People’s Choice Telly for an episode of the YouTube show “Curious People Wanted”, also created for the Barnum Museum. Other Telly winning projects were for the Wireless History Foundation and the Connecticut League of Museums.

Last year I edited a short music documentary film for a local producer called “Arctic Polar Bear Mothers” and it has been on the award circuit this year. We’re working on another similar film this year for release in 2026.

Again this year I was pleased to work with the Wireless History Foundation to create videos about their Wireless Hall of Fame Award inductees. These videos were shown at their awards dinner in Washington DC and the interviews we conducted also serve an archival historical purpose as we try to document the history of the wireless industry. I hope to continue to work with the WHF this coming year as well.

I also provided the crew and help record this fun episode of Azzi Fudd's podcast featuring Connecticut legend Geno Auriema!

As many of you know I am also a voice actor and this year was a great one for that work as well. I recorded voiceover for image films for MTU and Seturion in Europe as well as audio guides or virtual tours of several museums in Europe and even a promo/tag for CT Public that you should start hearing on PBS content in CT soon.

Much of the work I do is for corporations for internal or specific audiences, so unfortunately, I can’t share much of it.

And of course, I continue to narrate books. I’m up over 150 now and have several lined up this winter.

One highlight was Pandemics: A Very Short History (2nd Edition). It was interesting to read about the history and current state of so many diseases we often forget about.

Another highlight was an older book called Spooks: The Haunting of America. It is non-fiction but had many narrative sections, which allowed me to use character voices (always a treat for an actor)!

Spooks: The Haunting of America book cover.

“A classic of investigative reporting, Spooks is a treasure trove of who-shot-who research on the metastasis of the United States intelligence community, whose practices and personnel have engulfed the larger society.”

I had never heard of most of the people the book talked about, but there was some crazy stuff going on in the 70s and earlier. It was a fun read.

That about wraps it up.

As always I’m incredibly grateful to all my clients who trust me to help execute their creative ideas. Whether it’s running a live stream, creating video content, shooting or editing video, recording audio, providing a voiceover or even as an on camera actor, it means a lot and I hope we get do do some great work together again this year.

So, here’s to the end of a great year, and the beginning of what I hope is another great year.

Happy Holidays!

~Will
